Reasons for this freedom of information page.

You may well be wondering what a freedom of information page is doing on the Vivid Image Productions website? Well the answer to that question is like most things in life, not due to any singular event, but a multitude of aspects of all our lives that are being increasingly controlled by agents of the state that up till now normal people where deemed mature and responsible enough to be left to there own devices.

Police State?
We have personally felt the hand of the state many times. For example, at most of the dance based events that we work, police men and probably MI5 dressed as over the top military styled agents of combat (picture in you mind a combination of Hulk Hogan mixed with Capt Scarlet) constantly filming the activities of everyone on site. We’ve even had helicopters hovering, over one of our chill out tents for ten minutes, just filming us set-up! Why do they need to film us? What happens to these films?

The case just mentioned was a legal event, which fulfilled all required regulations. Lots of security and professional companies with years of experience have a legal right to work at legal events without this type of heavy intimidation.

Internet empowerment?
The second branch of awareness came from searching the Internet. When getting your information of the world around you, most of your idea’s have been built up throughout your life. Models of what, why, where and for have been assimilated from years of watching television news and reading newspaper’s, which have a very narrow view of the world and are controlled by just a few powerful people. Once you get used to the internet and the power of hypertext, other sources become available to you, and you soon realise that the picture of events portrayed by the mainstream media does not always tally with what a large amount of independently minded people are saying. Yes it can take a great deal of effort to decipher what the real issue can be, but with out the multitude of views expressed online, it would be impossible to form true and just views with only the officially allowed media. That’s why the online experience can be considered an empowering one.

Draconian Laws
The reason you are on this site in the first place may be due to your enjoyment and inquisitiveness about things that concern the Dance Industry, after all that’s the reason we’re here in the first place. You’re properly aware of the impact the Criminal Justice Act, we think its criminal too:), has had on our industry, but it has not just effected the free party movement, the after-effects have been felt by all in our industry, and can be seen as the cause of a lot of organisations leaving Britain.

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to organise an event and fulfill some of the regulations of which can only be seen as deliberate attempts to stifle our activities. It is effectively uneconomic under these regulations to create business plans though the use of draconian and often unnecessary rules by which we have to abide, making it virtually impossible for us to operate. Next time some one moans about there being nothing to do, or no where to go, the reason for this will now be apparent to you. We believe parts of the original bill were intentionally drafted to destroy the dance party events. But that’s not all, there are now a series of bills about to go though the British Parliament that will significantly affect us all, especially effecting the empowerment that the Internet can have. It would take more time and space that we have here to explain all of the bills, that’s the reason for the links. So follow the links, make up your minds as to how it affects you and your friends, but most of all, be an informed citizen. And next time “they” try to destroy something that means a lot to you, like the dance events party’s, if enough of us know the score we have more chance of doing something about it.
